(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A senior Yemeni opposition figure said Saudi Arabia is showing strong opposition to the ongoing popular uprisings in the region, particularly in Yemen, and helps dictators remain in power in such countries because Riyadh is fearful that these regional revolutions are likely to spread to Saudi Arabia.
"It is natural for Saudi Arabia to be dreadful of Yemen's revolution because it shares border with Yemen and feels the fear that the Yemeni revolution may spread to it as well," Secretary-General of the Alliance of Yemeni Tribes Abolfazl al-Saadi told on Sunday.
"Riyadh is also seeking to keep Yemen dependent on itself," he stated.
Saadi voiced confidence about the final victory of the Yemeni protesters over Ali Abdullah Saleh's regime, and called on Saudi Arabia to accept the realities and rest assured that all Arab revolutions will eventually yield results.
"If they fear these revolutions and their spread to Saudi Arabia, they should start reforms as soon as possible," the Yemeni opposition figure stressed.
Proponent of Yemen's revolution are furious at Saudi Arabia because they believe that massacre of the people by the forces loyal to the dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh has increased ever since he returned from Saudi Arabia with Riyadh's logistical and diplomatic support.
Saleh escaped to Saudi Arabia earlier this year after he was wounded by the revolutionary forces in his palace. But Riyadh gave him full support and provided him with his needed logical backup and opportunity to return to Yemen.
The Yemeni revolutionaries say that Salehi has intensified the clampdown on the people after the Saudi-led Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) presented its initiative and bought time for Saleh to return to the country and gather its forces.
The Yemeni opposition had also earlier blasted Washington and Riyadh for the current stalemate in the country, stressing that the US and Saudi Arabia have blocked the path of the Yemeni revolutionary forces to victory.
Two months ago, the Yemeni opposition unveiled that Saudi Arabia had sent armored vehicles and other military aids to Yemen to help the forces loyal to the country's then fugitive dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, suppress the popular uprising in the Arab country.
Members of the Yemeni Opposition told al-Quds al-Arabi daily that "a motorcade of Saudi armored vehicles and military aid entered the Yemeni soil to help the forces of the regime of Ali Abdullah Saleh."
